Prime Focus commits to Avid Media Composer 5
6 July, 2010 - 08:10Global visual entertainment services company, Prime Focus, has become one of the first to invest in Avid Media Composer 5, just days after its official release. The facility beta tested the software before choosing to upgrade and were impressed by the additional functionality the new version offered and placed an order for 43 licences with Avid's reseller Root 6, and also made a significant hardware investment.
"Media Composer 5 allows us to offer our clients a more efficient editing workflow," said Michael Wrightson, director of operations, UK at Prime Focus. "The ability to edit RED and QuickTime sourced content without transcoding simplifies the editing process. Media Composer 5 will also give us the ability to mix and match formats, frame rates and sizes, aspect ratios, and resolutions to an even greater extent than we previously could. It also confirms Prime Focus' commitment to the efficient management of stereo 3D workflows - an integral part of our future strategy."
Paul Hennessy, vice president of sales EMEA for Avid, said: "We're delighted to be strengthening our relationship with such a creative and dynamic post house. Prime Focus' investment in Media Composer 5 shows a clear commitment to leading the way in broadcast, film and commercials post production."
